Cafe de Paris is the number one place to be seen in Monte Carlo, with restaurant and gaming area. Most of the year the outdoor terrace is packed, especially in the late afternoon. During the winter months part of the terrace is enclosed, and there is a fresh oyster bar. Legend has it that the famous chef Escoffier was preparing a special dessert for Edward VII, reputedly a womanizer, and the dessert accidentally caught fire. Edward's companion at the time was Suzette so the flambe was christened crepe Suzette in her honor.
