The Christmas Eve dinner, or Reveillon de Noel, is a very important occasion in Monaco. It is a sumptuous meal that may include oysters, lobster, foie gras, turkey with chestnut stuffing and buche de Noel (yule log cake). As for New Year's Eve, restaurants feature specially priced menus for the meal. Children place wooden shoes or sabots near the fireplace or tree to be filled by Santa.
